Here’s a composite from a senior photo session a couple of weeks ago. Jeff is a dragon boat paddler, so we headed down to the Willamette to get some portraits showing that side of his personality. He’s also really into playing the guitar so had to get some photos with his acoustic guitar. And normally I wouldn’t do photos along train tracks because, well, it’s too senior-photo-like. But in this case, since these were senior photos, I feel like the train tracks worked well.
Part of my strategy in working with high school seniors is to meet with them prior to the photo session. That way I can get a sense of their personalities and interests so we can incorporate those into the session. Yes, it’s an extra step but it does make for far better photos than if a client simply walks into the studio for the first time and we do photos.
