Been working on a brand new headshots website and here’s a quick rough draft preview. Lots more work to do (like actually filling the galleries with photos) but this gives an idea of the direction I’m taking. Hope to get it officially up and running this week. Stay tuned.

Do you need a decent headshot? I can help!
Headshots have changed over the years. For acting and modeling, you want to avoid those stoic portraits that look so much like yearbook photos. Professional photographers (such as myself) can help you get a variety of headshots. With several different headshots, you can customize your photo submission for each individual job.

Doing some spring cleaning and ran across a bunch of photo equipment that I’m not using so it’s time for a sale! Everything is listed on craigslist — including the flash bracket in the photo. Great equipment, great prices!
Here’s are those listings:
Flash Bracket – SOLD
Studio Boom Arm – SOLD
Camera and Lens Cases

So on this photo shoot, we ended up shooting around 1200 photos! I’ve been editing like crazy and have it down to less than 600 now with more to chop. No joke – it’s tough to edit photos. Probably the toughest part of a photo shoot for me to be honest.

Shot this swimwear photo last week when the sun was shining and the mercury was in the 60’s. This week, it’s been snowing and raining and in the 40’s! Not exactly prime bikini weather. Looking forward to nicer weather as the month of March is supposed to go out like a lamb.

Here’s a glimpse at what’s happening behind the scenes during a recent photo shoot with Caitlyn. The black lab is only eight months old so he can be a handful when allowed to run loose during a shoot. You can pretty much tell how he feels about being leashed up indoors!

Charday can jump! Makes sense, she’s a basketball player. We didn’t have a ball or setting for a basketball shoot so we came up with some jumping shots instead. Once I finish editing this shoot, I think it will work nicely as a series. Here’s a sneak preview.

Spent my afternoon photographing Wolf Model Form 1977 wearing a bunch of Naturally Knotty wraps. Turns out with a little help from NK’s Jasmine Fullman, Form 1977 knows at least a dozen ways to wear a wrap.

In the past month, I’ve had two different photographers publicly criticize my work on my FB photography page. One guy decided posting negative critiques on multiple photos was the way to go. Another guy resorted to calling me a GWC (a derogatory term for a photographer – it stands for “guy with camera” or amateur photographer). For some reason both these guys have decided they are not only experts on photography, but they need to share their “expertise” with others.
The irony is that the criticized photos were commissioned by clients. And the clients were happy with the results.
I think as photographers we need to stand back sometimes. Why? Because all that technical stuff about histograms and meters and ratios — clients don’t care about that. They want visually pleasing photos and they really don’t care about anything other than the results and if they can use the final photos or not.
Remember – when you get hired for a shoot, you’re shooting for the client, not yourself or other photographers. You always need to deliver the results the client wants in order to keep them happy.
And when you get a negative comment, consider the source. Not every critique is valuable or even useful.
