I’m normally not crazy about centering a subjects face in the middle of the frame but think it works here. I still have dozens of photos to edit from this shoot. And an insanely fantastic and busy week coming up.

Okay, gotta share two more tonight. If only I had an editor to narrow down the shots I need for the fashion story out of this. Oh yeah — that editor is me! No kidding though, it’s tough to edit your own work. I can usually get it down to a rough selection then I need outside input.

men’s fall fashion and lifestyle previewWednesday, October 19th, 2011
Teamed up with a stylist and model today and shot down near the central library. We shot so many awesome photos! Here’s just a really quick sneak preview. Kind of the beginning and end of the final fashion story I hope to pull out of this shoot.

Haven’t posted in a few days because I was on an awesome camping trip. October can be nasty in Oregon but it can also be awesome when you hit the right weather. More on that in another post. Here’s a photo I shot just before the trip. Starting to sort out that shoot just today.

warm and invitingWednesday, October 12th, 2011
I frequently hear from clients that they want their headshots to be “warm and inviting”. So that’s a style I’ve been trying out lately. Sorry, Tyra, I love fierce but it just ain’t for this market.

working with dogs on photo shootsThursday, October 6th, 2011
Some dogs go hunting. This dog goes on photo shoots. Working with animals on shoots is tough! They don’t exactly follow direction well and they like to do mischievous things. Having a dedicated handler for the animal on set is ideal.
Hauled this black lab around with me all day today and only got about two decent photos of him with the model. Not for lack of trying though!

casual swimwear/fashion shootWednesday, September 21st, 2011
One more photo of this stunning model to share today. There are so many great images from this shoot it’s going to be tough to edit them down into a series of six or seven images. This was one of my most productive shoots to date! And I have a new strategy for future shoots. Sometimes just walking around and shooting when stuff catches your eye is the way to go. The pink door on this beach cabin (and hint of yellow flowers out front) totally caught my eye and the natural light was perfect for this shot. Quick, easy, and effective.

great day todayWednesday, September 21st, 2011
Shot with an amazing model today in beautiful downtown Rockaway Beach. We covered a lot of photos and looks in just a few hours. Enough for a cool fashion swimwear series.
One of Rockaways finest even stopped by. To make sure everything was okay. I asked the cop if he wanted to hold the reflector but he ignored me. He was sweating a lot which was strange because it wasn’t very hot at all. I was glad he didn’t have a heart attack in front of us.

I really do need to develop the patience to post my photos as series instead of individual posts. Anyone else struggle with that? I always want to show off my work and don’t want to wait until I’m done with the series. Checking out social media sites makes that worse too. I see other photographers work and I’m all, “Hey, I have new work too!” so I go and post something.
