I’m a photographer who loves to work on location, so nicer weather opens lots more opportunities than shooting in the studio.
Opportunities to shoot at the beach, like this photo of photo of Ari shot yesterday. Though I should note, she’s a lot colder than she looks! Couple of hours in skimpy swimwear with the wind and wet hair is bound to make anyone cold.
Keep in mind, the average temperature of the Pacific Ocean off northern Oregon is 53 F in May. It warms up to 58 F by August. Contrast that with the average May temperature of the Atlantic off Miami in May — 80 F (warming to 86 F August)– and you can see why there are not a lot of swimwear photographers in Oregon!
But don’t let the chilly sea stop you if you’ve been thinking about getting some awesome, professional swimwear photos of yourself. Now is the time to book your shoot for the summer months! Some photographers shoot swimwear in the studio. Not me. A beautiful location (and hey — there are lots of those in Oregon) makes all the difference in the quality and style of a photo shoot.
