Strangely enough, I’ve had two requests by aspiring models in the last couple of days asking me critique recent photo shoots they did with another photographer! And both requests were from people I have met only once.
What am I missing? Do these people go to restaurants with a home-made meal and ask the chef to critique their food? No? So why do they think I’m a free consulting service for developing their portfolios?
Not trying to be the photo grinch but I do find this quite strange. Some would consider it a marketing opportunity (”Oh those photos are nice, but hire me and I can shoot even better photos”). But both of these aspiring models have inquired about shoots in the past yet when it came time actually book the shoot (and pay a deposit) they magically stopped asking about the shoots. I’m happy to help aspiring models but not to the point where I’m wasting my time.
